Kristin Lloyd is a harpist who is passionate about both performance and teaching. She has performed in a wide array of orchestral, solo, and chamber music concerts and is actively engaged in music outreach and education.  Some of the orchestras that she has worked with include the Oakland Symphony, the Santa Cruz Symphony, the Monterey Symphony, the Merced Symphony, the Stockton Symphony, Symphony Napa Valley, the Modesto Symphony, Opera Parallele, and West Edge Opera. She was featured as a soloist with Espressivo Ensemble in 2022.

Kristin is an advocate of new music and has played with several chamber music ensembles with a contemporary focus, including the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Eco Ensemble, the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Mercury Soul, and One Found Sound. She has performed in numerous world premieres, such as “Polytempo Music” by Brian Baumbusch, which she recorded with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players for Other Minds.

As a versatile musician who enjoys playing many different genres, Kristin has shared the stage with a wide range of artists, some of whom are: Andrea Bocceli, Sarah Brightman, Pink Martini, Babyface, Yoke Lore, and Faye Webster. She has also recorded with the Family Crest. In addition, she has recorded scores for several films and TV shows, including a Christopher Coppola film (Torch) and episodes of Craig of the Creek.

  Kristin received her Bachelor of Music degree, Magna cum Laude, from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she studied with Ms. Paula Page. Then, she completed her Master of Music Performance degree in harp at the University of Michigan, under the instruction of Joan Holland. After finishing her graduate degree, she moved to California to take part in the Orchestra Institute Napa Valley Fellowship. Through this program, she was an artist-in-residence and adjunct harp professor at Pacific Union College. She also taught at an Artful Learning elementary school and an El Sistema program in Napa. Kristin currently teaches private harp lessons.

Committed to social justice and community involvement, Kristin has designed and taught music outreach programs for middle school-aged refugee students through PAIR and Catholic Charities. Additionally, she has performed in settings such as hospitals, temporary housing shelters, and retirement homes for groups that might not otherwise have access to live classical music.
